PRIMARY PURPOSE

Assist the Program Director of CTE by providing technical and instructional support of Career and Technical
Education programs and initiatives that lead to quality CTE programs that prepare students for college and career
success

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Masters degree preferred

Valid Texas teacher certificate 

                                                               

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of state and federal laws concerning CTE

Must have knowledge of CTE strategies, programs of study and industry based certifications

Knowledge of College, Career, and Military Readiness indicators, pathways for industry certification, postsecondary training, FAFSA/TAFSA completion, college entrance requirements and exams

Knowledge of graduation requirements       

Ability to work with staff members on multiple campuses

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, district staff and community members

Ability to work together with other employees as a part of a team

 

Work Conditions:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting; walking, standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding & use of mouse; occasional reaching

Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district-wide travel; frequent interruptions

Regular attendance is an essential function

        

Minimum Experience:

Five years teaching experience as evidenced by performance evaluations

Successful CTE teaching experience preferred

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Assist in the development and implementation of the goals, objectives, and priorities of the CTE program in conjunction with campus high school counselors, principals, and other staff and within the goals and strategic plan established by the district.
  2. Assist with the management of data and reporting of student industry based certifications, program of study alignment, and tracking of CCMR data
  3. Assist with data collection, reporting and evaluation of CTE as part of the CLNA process
  4. Remain current on state and federal laws, regulations and requirements governing CTE.
  5. Assist program director with use of data and analysis to gauge CTE program effectiveness.
  6. Aid in coordinating college and career development services and establish and maintain business/education partnerships that support the district’s strategic plan related to CCMR.
  7. Assist the director with facilitation of advisory committees and serves on local advisory boards (post-secondary, secondary, etc.) as needed.
  8. Assist director with articulation and dual credit, including Level I certification pathways within CTE programs of study.
  9. Monitor CTE data including PEIMS reports to ensure accurate reporting of IBCs, contact hours, etc.
  10. Assist with development and management of CTE budget including state and federal sources.
  11. Assist the CTE Director in development and revision of policies and procedures as they relate to CTE programs and operations.
  12. Assist with planning, development, and evaluation of CTE professional development that focuses on district and state goals.
  13. Work with the CTE Director and campus administration with providing instructional support to CTE teachers.
  14. Remain current on state and federal laws, regulations and requirements governing CTE.
  15. Serve on local and district committees as needed (secondary, post-secondary, community, etc.)
  16. Disseminate information relating to CTE, local workforce needs and post-secondary training opportunities.
  17. Work with department staff (both CTE and other district departments) on the revisions/updates of course guides, handbooks, and other district resources.
  18. Maintain adequate records and details of the program for reporting purposes to the Texas Education Agency.
  19. Keep abreast of new developments in CTE and disseminate this information regularly to stakeholders.
  20. Maintain confidentiality.
  21. Perform such other tasks and accept such other responsibilities as assigned
  22. Follows district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  23. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics
