PRIMARY PURPOSE

Collaborate with campus and district administration and CAS colleagues to develop plans, analyze data and identify best practices that will support the District Mission. Lead/coach classroom teachers to ensure effective Tier I instruction through the PLC process that results in improved student performance on local and state assessments 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree

Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned (Elementary)

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling,and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding; reaching

Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)

Environment: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and maintain professional demeanor under stress

Travel: Frequent district-wide travel

Regular attendance is an essential function.

      

Minimum Experience:

Three years of successful teaching experience as evidenced through the Texas Evaluation System     

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Work collaboratively and train campus staff on Amarillo ISD instructional initiatives and best practices in education.
  2. Model/coach Amarillo ISD instructional initiatives and best practices with campus staff in instructional settings to assure implementation with fidelity.
  3. Assist instructional leaders at the district and campus level in designing teaching/re-teaching activities to increase students’ ability to meet standards on STAAR and other assessments.
  4. Keep informed of new teaching strategies and techniques and shares with campus instructional leaders and with teachers.
  5. Support campus based and district assessment development.
  6. Participate in campus and district instructional development.
  7. Analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources including but not limited to walkthrough data, Eduphoria reports, program evaluation and State assessment reports.
  8. Support the campus and district in implementation of instructional management tools.
  9. Develop and maintain resources to support effective Tier I instruction.
  10. Assist in the alignment, development, and revision of the Amarillo ISD scope and sequence.
  11. Compile and maintain data-bases that inform all tiers (Tier I, II, and III) of instruction at the campus and district level.
  12. Assist educators in the planning and/or conducting of staff development activities related to implementation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), curriculum alignment, assessment lesson planning, design, and delivery.
  13. Assist in the implementation of a cohesive and comprehensive district-wide instructional delivery system, to include factors, such as state and district standards.
  14. Work directly with the District-level Academic Team on researching, developing and implementing best practices which support the District’s goals and objectives related to effective classroom instruction for all students.
  15. Abide by State and Federal laws, District policies, campus expectations and Texas Educator Code of Ethics.

  16. Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned
